In 1787, Thomas Lord chose Dorset Square to lay down a cricket ground which, in 1814, moved a mile north to whatis now known as Lord's Cricket Ground. The Dorset Square Hotel London os one of the Regency buildings surrounding the tree-filled gardens that would have had a grandstand view of the game in those days.
