Three years and £70 million were spent painstakingly refurbishing the Great Eastern Hotel, a landmark building from the golden age of steam railways. Many of the original architectural features have been restored, whilst introducing a bold, contemporary aesthetic. Located in London’s financial district, the splendid Victorian architecture of the hotel nestles amid the towering business offices around it.
Two new floors have been added as part of the refurbishment, bringing the total number of bedrooms to 267, each one different in size and layout. Whilst the modern upper floors have a contemporary loft-style feel (light colour schemes, porthole windows etc) the lower floors retain certain elements of their Victorian heritage (high ceilings, wide open windows and dark panelling). Some features remain constant in all our rooms including Frette linen sheets, 2-line telephones, ISDN and fax lines, CD players, TV, DVD, in-room safe and personal bar.
